About The Position

WPBF, the ABC affiliate in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, is seeking a take-charge Local News Producer who can create memorable newscasts. The candidate should be creative, aggressive, decisive, and able to communicate plans clearly and concisely. The role calls for excellent news judgment, flexibility, a can-do attitude, strong writing, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing news environment while working quickly under deadlines and remaining calm under pressure. The producer must be willing to work weekends, nights, or overnights and reports to the News Director. The producer selects, researches, and writes content for live newscasts, works with and guides reporters in story production, and coordinates and executes a creative vision with the newsroom team. In-person attendance is required. Candidates should have 2–5 years of producing experience and newsroom experience; knowledge of ENPS is preferred. Related experience or training, as well as a combination of education and experience, may be considered.

Requirements

2–5 years of producing experience.
Newsroom experience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and copy-editing skills.
Ability to multitask and coordinate several crews and responsibilities simultaneously.
Ability to summarize information into easy-to-understand components.
Creative presentation style and ability to showcase available resources and elements.
Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
Availability to work holidays and shifts that include nights, weekends, and overnights, with schedule flexibility for breaking news.
Related experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience, may be considered.

Responsibilities

Select, research, and write content for live newscasts to create an engaging experience for viewers.
