About The Position

Daikin Comfort Technologies Distribution, Inc. is hiring a Local Delivery Driver for its branch operations group at the Austin, Texas branch. The driver safely operates company trucks to deliver products to customers and company locations on time. The role also involves loading, unloading, transferring, and securing products using equipment such as forklifts, as well as helping with warehouse and front-counter duties when needed. Strong customer-service skills are required. Work is performed under established procedures and close supervision, with well-defined instructions.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years old.
Hold a valid driver’s license in the state of employment.
Have a working knowledge of commercial truck mechanics and current DOT regulations.
Have at least one year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the past three years.
Have a current, valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record; the DMV record must not show more than two moving violations and/or preventable accidents within the past three years.
Pass DOT standards and annual DOT screening.
Complete the required DOT road test, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, and background check; driver placement is contingent on successful completion.
Demonstrate excellent customer-service skills.
Be able to use MS Office, including Outlook and Excel, Mincron, and a scanner proficiently.
Be able to multitask and assist with warehouse, front-counter, or other branch duties as needed.
Be punctual and conscientious about time.
Be able to operate a forklift.
Meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodations, including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, repeatedly lifting lighter items, or performing two-person lifts for heavier items, and standing or walking for extended periods.
Be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Responsibilities

Load, unload, and deliver products to customer sites safely and within designated time frames, using efficient routes.
Maintain required logs and reports in compliance with DOT and company policies for safety and delivery-vehicle and forklift operation.
Properly block, brace, and secure cargo.
Follow applicable driving, traffic, and transportation laws and regulations.
Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to transfer, load, and unload products, verifying product identity and quantities.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip checks of company vehicles and forklifts according to required procedures.
Perform warehouse duties and ensure accurate products and quantities are loaded or transferred for customers.
Follow good housekeeping and safety practices.
Provide warehouse or front-counter backup as needed.
Perform additional duties as needed.
