Box Truck Delivery Driver
About The Position
Wonderful Sales, the sales and merchandising organization for The Wonderful Company, is hiring a full-time Box Truck Delivery Driver for its Direct Store Delivery (DSD) team in Bronx, New York. The driver delivers and merchandises Wonderful products at supermarkets and retailers throughout the New York Metro area. This position reports to the Sr. Route Sales Manager and follows a Monday-to-Friday schedule with a 6:00 a.m. start time. The stated pay rate is $25.00 per hour and may include a discretionary bonus; final compensation depends on skills and experience. The role involves completing assigned delivery routes, stocking and merchandising products, maintaining store relationships, processing invoices and applicable payments, and supporting warehouse loading and unloading. Drivers are expected to follow company personal, driving, and food-safety policies and keep their vehicles safe, clean, and maintained. Requirements
- Previous DSD route and/or supermarket experience.
- Previous experience in sales, retail merchandising, and customer service.
- Valid driver’s license and no major driving infractions; a background check will be conducted.
- Valid New York Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card.
- Ability to drive an 18- to 24-foot box truck with a liftgate; a Commercial Driver’s License is not required.
- Ability to move products weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Basic math and effective communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Highly motivated, self-starting, enthusiastic, positive, resourceful, and able to work as a team player.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook and Apple-based products, including iPhone.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus but are not required.
Responsibilities
- Complete local daily deliveries on assigned routes throughout the New York Metro area.
- Build pre-orders from the truck, load them onto a handcart or dolly, and deliver them into stores.
- Keep store shelves clean and orderly; rotate code dates and report out-of-code or damaged products to store personnel.
- Merchandise products on shelves and fixtures or build displays as designated.
- Complete customer invoices and collect cash or check payments where applicable.
- Maintain working relationships and communication with DSD team members and customers.
- Assist the warehouse with loading and unloading box trucks as needed.
- Follow company personal, driving, and food-safety standards and policies.
- Keep the vehicle safe, clean, and maintained; report safety or vehicle deficiencies to management.
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
