LOCAL BOX TRUCK DRIVER
About The Position
Daikin Comfort Technologies Distribution, Inc. is seeking a skilled Local Delivery Driver for its Branch Operations group at the Ocala, Florida branch. The driver safely operates company trucks to deliver products on time to customer and company locations, and loads, unloads, and transfers products using equipment such as forklifts. The role also provides customer service and assists with warehouse and front counter duties when not making deliveries. The position requires safe, compliant vehicle and forklift operation, accurate handling of products, completion of required logs and vehicle checks, and prompt reporting of accidents, damage, violations, or concerns. The driver follows company safety and housekeeping practices and supports other business needs as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 2 consecutive years of commercial vehicle driving experience.
- Current valid driver's license and an excellent driving record.
- Meet and pass DOT standards, including annual DOT screening.
- Pass forklift training and delivery truck driving tests through the Prove it Pass it training within 30 working days of the start date.
- Ability to safely operate a flatbed or box truck and a forklift as needed.
- Ability to load and transfer products safely, promptly, and without damage.
- Strong attention to detail and surroundings.
- Ability to follow branch, driving, and warehouse policies and established practices.
- Good judgment, strong work ethic, integrity, compliance, and results orientation.
- Dependability and ability to work well on a team and build positive relationships with employees and customers.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry to process transactions and generate reports and orders.
- Ability to multitask and assist with warehouse, front counter, or branch work as needed.
- Reliability and ability to work assigned hours and days.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
- Able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
Nice To Haves
- At least 2 years of warehouse or logistics experience.
- Previous training in forklift and delivery truck operation.
Responsibilities
- Load, unload, and deliver products safely to customer sites within designated time frames using efficient routes.
- Maintain logs and reports required for compliance with Department of Transportation and company safety and vehicle-operation policies.
- Load, block, brace, and secure cargo properly.
- Comply with applicable driving, traffic, and transportation laws and regulations.
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to transfer, load, and unload products, ensuring product and quantity accuracy.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip checks of company vehicles and forklifts.
- Perform warehouse duties and ensure accurate product and quantity handling for customers.
- Immediately notify the manager of accidents, damage, violations, and areas of concern.
- Follow good housekeeping and safety practices.
- Provide warehouse and/or front counter backup as needed.
- Perform additional projects and duties to support business needs.
- Assist with warehouse or front counter work as needed when not making deliveries.
