About The Position

Oak Harbor Freight Lines is hiring local Pick-Up and Delivery Drivers to safely pick up and deliver freight throughout the local service area while providing excellent customer service. Drivers operate material-handling equipment, inspect and document shipments, maintain accurate paperwork and electronic records, and safely handle freight in varying weather and business conditions. The role may require working various shifts to accommodate business levels and traveling to nearby terminals. Drivers are home nightly.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Hold a Class A CDL.
• Have at least one year of verifiable commercial driving experience with similar equipment.
• Hold valid DOT Medical Certification.
• Have a clean driving record, with no DUI, reckless driving, or positive drug/alcohol screen in the last three years.
• Effectively communicate with customers, coworkers, dispatch, and managers.
• Have basic English proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

• Hazmat, Tanker, and Double/Triples endorsements; these are required within 45 days of hiring.
• Doubles/triples and chaining experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and move freight safely and efficiently using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and similar equipment.
• Note and record exceptions in shipment count or condition to minimize cargo claims.
• Make multiple customer deliveries while providing high levels of customer service within the Oak Harbor network.
• Maintain required information using electronic devices.
• Check the accuracy and completion of delivery receipts, bills of lading, trailer manifests, freight counts, hazardous-material shipments, and special loading and handling instructions.
• Use sound judgment to maximize efficiency while meeting customer expectations.
• Meet the company's reliability and dependability standards.
• Chain as needed and work in inclement weather.
• Work various shifts as needed to accommodate business levels.
• Travel to nearby terminals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
