Class A CDL Driver – Local Pickup & Delivery
About The Position
Experienced Class A CDL Driver for a dedicated local pickup and delivery operation in Farmingdale, New York. The position offers $35 per hour, full-time ongoing contract-to-hire employment, consistent local routes, and benefits. It is on-site, and local candidates only are being considered. Schedules are Tuesday through Saturday, either 1:00 AM–9:30 AM or 2:00 AM–10:30 AM. The role involves operating tractor-trailers and handling local pickups and deliveries, including cargo loading, unloading, inspection, and securement. The job is intended for drivers who can follow DOT and company safety requirements, maintain accurate records, and perform physical cargo-handling duties.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL and current DOT medical card.
- Minimum 3 years of tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Experience with 53-foot trailers, dry vans, high-cube trailers, or flatbeds.
- Clean commercial driving record, with no major at-fault accidents or speeding violations in commercial vehicles.
- Local pickup and delivery or urban driving experience.
- Ability to perform physical cargo-handling duties, including tarping, strapping, and chaining.
- Strong communication, time management, and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills and accurate recordkeeping.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Operate Class A tractor-trailers, including 53-foot dry vans, high-cube trailers, and flatbeds.
- Complete local pickup and delivery routes safely and on time.
- Load, unload, inspect, and secure cargo using tarps, straps, and chains.
- Perform pre-trip inspections, fueling, and routine safety checks.
- Maintain accurate delivery paperwork and transportation logs.
- Adjust routes based on traffic, weather, and operational needs.
- Report vehicle issues, delays, and safety concerns.
- Assist with loading operations and maintain clean, organized vehicles and work areas.
- Follow DOT regulations and company safety procedures.
