About The Position

Oak Harbor Freight Lines is hiring local Pick-Up & Delivery Drivers to move freight safely and efficiently within the Oak Harbor network. Drivers operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks; make multiple customer deliveries; maintain shipment and delivery records, including electronic information and paperwork; and provide high levels of customer service. Drivers may need to travel to nearby terminals and work various shifts to accommodate business levels. The position is advertised at up to $34.41 per hour, Monday through Friday on the day shift, with drivers home nightly.

Requirements

• At least 21 years old.
• Class A CDL.
• At least one year of verifiable commercial driving experience with similar equipment.
• Valid DOT Medical Certification.
• Clean driving record, with no DUI, reckless driving, or positive drug/alcohol screen in the last three years.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, dispatch, and managers.
• Basic English proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

• Hazmat, Tanker, and Double/Triples endorsements; these are required within 45 days of hiring.
• Doubles/triples and chaining experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and move freight safely and efficiently using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and similar equipment.
• Note and record exceptions in shipment count or condition to minimize cargo claims.
• Make multiple customer deliveries while providing high levels of customer service within the Oak Harbor network.
• Maintain required information using electronic devices.
• Check the accuracy and completion of delivery receipts, bills of lading, and trailer manifests; count freight; verify hazardous-material shipments; and follow special loading and handling instructions.
• Make responsible decisions to maximize efficiency while meeting customer expectations.
• Meet the company's reliability standard, including dependability.
• Chain as needed and work in inclement weather.
• Work various shifts as needed to accommodate business levels.
• Travel to nearby terminals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
