About The Position

County Transfer & Recycling, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety conscience Local CDL Garbage Route Driver to join our team in Florence, OR! This position involves collecting solid waste and transporting it to appropriate disposal sites. You will be cross-trained in various truck styles, including Roll Off, Commercial Front Load, and Residential Automatic Side Load. The role requires independent work and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Requirements

• Valid CDL with Air Brakes endorsement as a minimum.
• Clean driving record.
• Pass Criminal Background Check, Drug panel Screening, and Motor Vehicle Report.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.
• Basic knowledge of truck components in order to complete pre- and post-trip inspections.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to service Residential and Commercial Customers.
• Cross-train in different styles of Trucks, Front Load, Residential Side Load, and Forklift operation.
• Read Route Tablet and service each customer identified on the Route or assigned by the dispatcher.
• Lift, Push and Pull 500+ Containers Using Hydraulic hand Controls.
• Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
• Perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, at times with no helpers.
• Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
• Courteous interaction with our customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
