About The Position

Elko Sanitation, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety-conscious CDL Garbage Truck Driver to join our team in Elko, NV. This role offers local routes, meaning you'll be home daily, providing long-term stability with a respected employer. It's a year-round, full-time position with no seasonal layoffs, and you'll be part of a tight-knit, safety-focused local team.

Requirements

  • Valid Class B or Class A CDL with air brakes endorsement
  • Clean driving record.
  • Must pass criminal background check, drug panel screening and MVR to be eligible for employment.
  • Ability to work a physically demanding job.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend reports to complete daily assignments in English.
  • Candidates for employment must meet position requirements and successfully pass post offer employment examinations including: Background Check, MVR Check (Clean Driving Record), Drug screen, Physical Capacity exam.

Nice To Haves

  • You may be cross trained in Automated Side Load Garbage Trucks, Front Load Garbage Trucks, and Roll Off Trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for safely operating collection equipment for the efficient and effective collection of solid waste, and delivering those materials to a designated disposal facility.
  • Responsible for completing required administrative paperwork by use of an On-Board-Computer to maintain accurate company records and customer accounts.
  • Safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste.
  • Read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Operates hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse, operate compactor and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
  • Cleans up the area around accidental waste spills.
  • Completes daily reports on pre and post trip inspections of equipment; such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Fuels vehicle daily
  • Maintains the physical appearance of the equipment, including routine washing
  • Monitors over and under filled carts/containers to assess changing service requirements; Monitors the condition and repair needs of existing carts/containers;
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Courteous interaction with our customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Loading and unloading cans with no helpers.
