About The Position

Waste Connections is hiring a safety-conscious CDL Class B Driver in Erie, Colorado. The role pays $26–$30 per hour for approximately 50–55 hours per week, with overtime paid for every hour over 40. The position is eligible for safety bonuses. The driver operates a garbage truck on assigned routes to collect solid waste, performs vehicle inspections and routine maintenance, and interacts courteously with customers. Work involves physically demanding tasks, including lifting, loading, unloading, and operating hydraulic hand controls. Waste industry experience is preferred but not required.

Requirements

Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement, at minimum.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
Basic knowledge of truck components to complete pre- and post-trip inspections.
Ability to work Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays, for approximately 50–55 hours per week.
Must be at least 21 years old to operate a commercial vehicle.
Ability to perform strenuous physical work, including lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.

Waste experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste.
Read route sheets and service each customer listed or assigned by the dispatcher.
Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
Perform physically demanding loading and unloading, sometimes without helpers.
Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
Interact courteously with customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Complete pre- and post-trip inspections.
