Local CDL Driver
About The Position
Southern Concrete Materials (SCM), a family-owned company serving Western North Carolina and Northern Georgia since 1958, is hiring CDL drivers for its Andrews, North Carolina location. The driver safely operates a 78,000-pound concrete mixer truck on local routes over mountainous terrain and into tight job sites. The role includes checking concrete slump, adding admixtures, communicating with dispatch by tablet and radio, performing daily safety checks, cleaning the truck and drum, and providing professional service to contractors and homeowners. Drivers are home daily and work Monday through Friday, with Saturdays as needed. The posting offers competitive pay, bonuses, insurance, 401(k), and full-time hours.
Requirements
- Valid Class B CDL, minimum.
- Ability to climb truck ladders, lift up to 60 pounds, and enter and exit the cab more than 50 times per day.
- Must pass a DOT physical and a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 78,000-pound mixer truck over mountainous terrain and into tight job sites.
- Check concrete slump and add admixtures as needed.
- Communicate with dispatch using a tablet and radio.
- Perform daily safety checks and keep the truck and drum clean using water and acid mixtures.
- Provide professional, tactful service to contractors and homeowners at job sites.
