About The Position

Mason County Garbage, a Waste Connections Company, is hiring a safety-conscious CDL Driver in Shelton, Washington. The driver operates a garbage truck on assigned routes to collect and dispose of solid waste, serves customers courteously, and performs routine vehicle inspections and maintenance. Waste industry experience is preferred but not required; training may be provided. The position is full-time, with a Monday–Friday schedule starting at 6 AM, occasional Saturdays as needed, and an average of about 45 hours per week. Overtime is eligible, and drivers are home every night. Starting pay is $27.75 per hour, with annual pay increases and bonus opportunities.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of relevant driving experience.
Valid Class A CDL preferred; Class B CDL acceptable.
Clean driving record; applicants are asked to bring a copy of their MVR to the in-person interview.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Ability to operate 10-, 13-, and 18-speed transmissions is preferred but not required.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to perform extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
Observe basic safety precautions in an environment with physical risks, including moving mechanical parts.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a garbage truck on designated routes to collect solid waste.
Read route sheets and service each customer listed or assigned by the dispatcher.
Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
Interact courteously with customers.
Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
