This local grocery delivery position is based out of Westfield, Massachusetts, with average annual pay of approximately $100,000 and a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Drivers deliver fresh and frozen grocery freight to supermarkets and distribution centers across the New York boroughs, Long Island, New Jersey, and Boston, averaging about 31 stops per week. Freight is hauled in reefer trailers measuring 53, 51, 48, or 46 feet. Drivers are home daily and operate slip-seated day cabs shared with opposite-shift drivers. Trucks remain at the yard, so drivers need their own transportation to and from work. Shifts are typically 12 to 14 hours, with start times between 00:01 and 03:00. Available schedules are Tuesday through Saturday; Monday through Friday plus every other Saturday; or Tuesday through Saturday. Pay includes a daily rate bonus for working the full schedule, stop pay that varies by location and stop type, layover pay, detention pay after the first hour, new-hire training pay, and holiday pay. Occasional layovers may occur, and hotel accommodations are provided. The work involves unloading one to three pallets of frozen product at each stop using a manual pallet jack and liftgate. Drivers may need to hand offload product piece by piece. Delivery arrangements vary by location, including curbside deliveries in New York City, dock deliveries in New Jersey, and flexible arrangements on Long Island. Medical, dental, and vision coverage begins after 30 days. Other benefits include paid time off accruing from the first day, life insurance, mental health support, disability benefits, and a 401(k) plan with company match.
