As a Loan Specialist at First Residential Independent Mortgage, you will guide and educate borrowers through the home loan process, initiating their homebuying journey and helping them feel informed and ready to move forward. Most leads are people who have already expressed interest, rather than cold-call prospects. This is an entry-level role; mortgage experience is helpful but not required, and the company provides training and development. NMLS licensing is required, and the company can help you obtain it after you start. You will communicate with borrowers by phone, email, and other tools, assess their goals, run credit through an online system, help identify suitable loan options, explain the process and loan terms, and manage paperwork and the borrower’s file through closing. You will collaborate with internal and external parties and support the team wherever needed. Business calls may be recorded and reviewed using AI-assisted technology for coaching, quality assurance, compliance, training, and performance evaluation. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., plus one or two Saturday shifts per month, four hours each. The Flex Loan Specialist schedule is Monday through Friday between noon and 10 p.m., with hours that may vary, plus two weekends per month. Compensation includes a competitive base salary and commission, with potential earnings of $45,000–$80,000 per year; top performers may earn more through performance incentives. First Residential Independent Mortgage is part of the Veterans United family of companies and specializes in conventional and FHA loans. The company describes its values as being passionate and having fun, delivering results with integrity, and enhancing lives every day.
