About The Position

Responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing applications for all consumer, credit card, and overdraft account loans. Meets with applicants to explain credit policies and to obtain additional loan information and documentation. Assembles and evaluates loan applications and presents loan requests for approval. Ensures that members and prospective members are promptly and professionally served. Provides general Credit Union information and cross-sells services.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with required loan training and certification.
  • Knowledge of Credit Union loan services, policies, and procedures.
  • Understanding of related legal and regulatory standards, and required loan documentation.
  • Knowledge of consumer and residential lending practices.
  • Minimum one year related experience.
  • Excellent interviewing, communication, and public relations skills.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills.
  • Ability to operate related computer applications, and other business equipment including calculators, typewriter, printer, telephone, and notary stamp.
  • Good typing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous lending experience or experience with a full-service financial institution helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively receiving, reviewing, and processing loan applications.
  • Interviewing, taking applications, gathering information, and processing preliminary documentation on loan requests.
  • Evaluating and verifying loan applications and credit criteria, computing debt ratios, verifying employment and income, and determining the value of collateral.
  • Notifying applicants of loan decisions and requesting additional information if required.
  • Coordinating and processing closings, ensuring that each loan is promptly and properly prepared, documented, processed, approved, and disbursed.
  • Calculating terms, finance charges, and insurance on loans for proper disclosure on promissory notes.
  • Assisting in servicing loans by processing items such as payoffs, refinances, problem loan workout arrangements, address changes, payment extensions, collateral releases, payment due date changes, and perfecting all necessary liens.
  • Prompt follow-up on pending titles and verifying car insurance coverage.
  • Making car appraisals.
  • Selling credit life, disability, and mortgage insurance.
  • Performing duties of area personnel as required.
  • Ensuring that lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and are legally compliant, and that loan requests are properly documented.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with members.
  • Resolving members' requests and questions promptly and courteously, providing blue book values and answering questions regarding government loans and real estate policies.
  • Keeping members properly informed of Credit Union loan policies and services.
  • Ensuring that the Credit Union's quality and professional reputation is projected and maintained.
  • Counseling members regarding money management and financial matters.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with area personnel and management.
  • Assisting area personnel and other Loan Officers as needed.
  • Assisting in training and cross-training loan support personnel.
  • Completing reports and records promptly and accurately, and typing loans and all supporting documents as required.
  • Attending meetings as required.
  • Keeping Management informed of area activities and any significant problems.
  • Actively and professionally cross-selling Credit Union services.
  • Staying informed regarding local and national economic conditions and legal and regulatory changes.
  • Ensuring proper maintenance, cleanliness, and security of work area, desks, equipment, etc.
