On a day-to-day basis, the Dock Master will support the day-to-day operations of the loss prevention department to ensure the safety of the loading dock and secure delivery and receipt of all goods and materials. The Dock Master position involves receiving incoming requests (phone, email or in person) for service regarding the loading dock; coordinating the entrance and egress of all delivery vehicles to and from NE 3rd St; coordinating the delivery of all goods and services to tenants in a timely manner; and creating and maintaining a detailed log of all vehicle and contractor personnel entering and exiting the building. This role also includes authorizing, monitoring, and documenting access to secured areas, assisting guests/employees during emergency situations, responding to accidents, contacting EMS, or administering first aid/CPR as required. The position requires calling for assistance using proper code responses, providing proper paperwork to employees, receiving and assisting with deliveries using receiving reports, verifying and tracking received inventory and completing inventory reports and logs. The Dock Master is responsible for securing the receiving room and its contents, ensuring the safekeeping of packages, and following all national, state, and local hazardous material shipping guidelines and regulations. Communication with tenants regarding received packages and with proper management regarding any loss or damage to packages is essential. Additionally, the role involves assisting management in training, motivating, and coaching employees; serving as a role model and first point of contact for the Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy process. This includes following all company policies and procedures, reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager, completing safety training and certifications, ensuring uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintaining the confidentiality of proprietary information, and protecting company assets. The position requires welcoming and acknowledging all guests according to company standards, anticipating and addressing guests’ service needs, and thanking guests with genuine appreciation. Effective communication skills are necessary, including speaking with others using clear and professional language, preparing and reviewing written documents accurately and completely, and answering telephones using appropriate etiquette. Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with others, supporting the team to reach common goals, and listening and responding appropriately to the concerns of other employees are also key. Ensuring adherence to quality expectations and standards is required. In addition, some states may have additional licensing/registration requirements to be considered for this position. The role involves moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance. Performing other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors is also part of the role.
