About The Position

Select Sires, Inc. is seeking a Livestock Technician Intern for its Westby, Wisconsin facility. This hourly, non-exempt internship reports to the Production Supervisor. The role supports livestock production through semen collection, bull handling, livestock care, and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, with rotating weekend and holiday work required. Schedules and duties may change to meet departmental needs.

Ability to constantly stand or walk, bend or stoop, and push or pull up to 100 pounds for 6–8 hours.
Ability to frequently twist; lift 21–50 pounds at knee, waist, and chest height; lift 0–20 pounds overhead; and carry 21–50 pounds for 3–6 hours.
Ability to occasionally squat or kneel for 1–3 hours.
Ability to seldom sit, climb stairs, crawl, or lift 0–20 pounds from floor level for 0–1 hours.
Work authorization must be verified upon employment, including completion of USCIS Form I-9 within three business days of the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

Represent the Select Sires, Inc. mission and core values positively.
Clean and maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Collect semen using established safety protocols.
Handle bulls to properly stimulate semen collection.
Operate company vehicles, trucks, trailers, and farm equipment.
Perform general livestock care, including feeding, cleaning, moving bulls and steers, health testing, veterinary treatments, and hoof trimming.
