About The Position

Peco Foods' Summer Internship Program gives college students hands-on experience in poultry processing operations within a large-scale manufacturing environment. The Production Operations Intern works alongside experienced production leaders, explores different areas of plant operations, and contributes to projects intended to improve efficiency and performance. The internship offers the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge, build practical skills, and learn about career opportunities in production supervision and operations management. Interns gain firsthand exposure to daily production operations and develop leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. They work closely with an assigned supervisor and follow company safety, food safety, and operational procedures. Assignments across processing departments help interns understand how daily operations and different facility processes support overall plant performance. Interns also work alongside production supervisors and plant leaders, participate in an operational improvement project, develop practical solutions, and present recommendations to plant leadership. Ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and opportunities to build relationships with industry professionals support professional growth. The internship lasts 10–12 weeks, from late May to early August. Hands-on plant assignments may involve varying shifts, extended periods of standing or walking, lifting, and other physically demanding production activities.
