About The Position

The Livestock Feeding Consultant will drive adoption and sales of McNess’ value-added ruminant nutrition products and services across beef operations. This role supports a broad portfolio ranging from vitamin & mineral premixes and feed additives to protein blends, co-products, specialty ingredients, and third-party commodities. You will develop new markets within your territory, strengthen relationships with existing beef producers, and convert prospects by delivering performance-driven nutrition solutions. By promoting McNess’ Beef Nutrition Programs and leveraging cutting-edge technologies, you will help producers optimize herd health, feed efficiency, growth performance, and profitability across all production phases.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in animal science, Nutrition, or related field required (PH. D preferred)
  • Minimum five years of direct sales including proficiency with formulation models and ration balancing.
  • Strong presentation skills and competitive-product knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to change.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean record; willingness to travel overnight as business needs dictate.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate new beef and cow-calf, stocker, feedlot, and beef accounts by presenting customized McNess Ruminant Nutrition Program solutions.
  • Promote value-added products including premixes, feed additives, mineral programs, protein blends, co-products, and specialty manufactured and commodity offerings.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities within beef programs and integrated supply chains.
  • Maintain and actively update a territory prospect list to meet and exceed annual volume, revenue, and margin targets.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor positioning, and regional production dynamics to drive strategic growth initiatives.
  • Provide modern beef and cow-calf husbandry consultation, including nutrition strategies for lactating cows, transition animals, replacement heifers, beef cow-calf herds, stockers, and feedlot cattle.
  • Deliver performance-optimization services focused on feed efficiency, average daily gain, carcass quality, reproductive performance, and overall herd health.
  • Stay current on feeding, management, and genetic trends across beef, and beef sectors to inform product positioning and field application.
  • Independently resolve customer inquiries while leveraging internal nutritionists, R&D, and supply chain resources as needed.
  • Work closely with sales team members, nutritionists, R&D, marketing, and internal operations to identify and execute business development opportunities.
  • Participate in industry associations, producer meetings, trade events, and company product-development initiatives within beef sectors.
  • Share competitive insights, field intelligence, and best practices in regular internal meetings to strengthen overall market strategy.
  • Deliver outstanding service by responding promptly and proactively beef and cow-calf sectors producer needs.
  • Build long-term, trusted advisor relationships across diversified ruminant operations.
  • Utilize McNess CRM tools for pipeline management, margin monitoring, account planning, and performance tracking.
