About The Position

The Live Haul Truck Driver operates a truck with a capacity of more than three tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations. The role follows applicable state and federal requirements for truck logs and maintains contact with a supervisor for delivery instructions. The driver inspects and maintains the vehicle, cleans its compartment as necessary to avoid contamination, and assists the location and Live Haul Operator with operational duties as time allows. The position requires a valid Class A CDL with proper endorsements, commercial insurability, and a current DOT physical. It has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Class A CDL with proper endorsements and commercial insurability.
• Current DOT physical.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
• Ability to perform arithmetic with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions and handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Drive the truck to specified destinations.
• Maintain truck logs according to state and federal regulations.
• Maintain telephone or radio contact with the supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
• Clean the truck compartment after unloading as necessary to avoid contamination.
• Inspect truck equipment and supplies, including tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Assist the location and Live Haul Operator with operational duties as time allows to support an efficient production schedule.
• Keep truck interiors and exteriors clean as conditions allow to promote a positive image of Peco Foods, Inc.
• Maintain a valid Class A CDL with proper endorsements, commercial insurability, and a current DOT physical.
