About The Position
Just after the City of Fort Lauderdale was incorporated in 1911, our very own Mr. Rogers and Mr. Morris founded RMZ Law in 1925. We are honored to be the oldest law firm founded in Broward County and are excited to celebrate over 100 years of providing legal services to the community. Our practice is growing and we are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join the RMZ Law family. We are seeking to hire a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to support the Litigation team around our three main practice areas of Business, Estate Planning and Real Estate. We are looking for an individual with at least 7 years of experience in a law firm supporting attorneys with civil litigation matters in our primary practice areas. In this role, the employee will provide a spectrum of legal support which will consist of the following responsibilities and require the following skills and experiences:
Requirements
- 7 or more years working experience as a Paralegal in a law office supporting civil litigation attorneys in Business, Estate Planning or Real Estate.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and PDF writers (Nuance or Adobe).
- Experience using a legal case management software (ideally PracticeMaster/Tabs3) for document and correspondence management and billing time.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with a team.
- Interest in taking initiative to suggest and/or implement process improvements.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks at a time, maintain a high quality of work, and keep deadlines.
- Excellent proficiency of both written and spoken English and ability to proofread documents for accuracy.
Nice To Haves
- Paralegal Certificate or paralegal courses are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Manage cases from inception to settlement/trial.
- Support Attorneys in the preparation, filing, and service of papers for use in court proceedings, including hearings, depositions, and trials.
- Monitor deadlines, conduct legal research, and draft legal documents.
- Efficiently handle all administrative tasks including answer and direct phone calls, open new files, schedule appointments, scan, copy, save documents, and send out mailings.
- Provide timely and courteous correspondence with clients and all outside vendors.
- Act as occasional backup for receptionist time off including answering phones and greeting office guests.
