About The Position

A mid-size Chicago-based insurance defense firm is seeking an ambitious, ABA-certified Paralegal to join our team. This full-time position offers a competitive salary, outstanding benefits, and an opportunity to play a key role in our litigation practice. Position Overview: The Paralegal will provide critical support to attorneys by managing a variety of litigation-related tasks. Responsibilities include case file management, assisting attorneys with case preparation, drafting legal documents, maintaining electronic databases, and client reporting. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Paralegal Certificate (ABA-accredited preferred).
  • 5 – 10 years of litigation experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with advanced Excel knowledge.
  • Experience using court docket search databases (PACER, LexisNexis, Pohlman, Westlaw, etc.).
  • Familiarity with e-discovery and trial software (NextPoint, Relativity, etc.).
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong prioritization skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability and ability to quickly acquire new skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in asbestos defense litigation and/or insurance defense litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to multiple attorneys and partners.
  • Assist with the preparation of discovery, pleadings, and motions.
  • Draft and update client reports.
  • Organize, review, summarize, and draft documents.
  • Conduct basic research on court rules and litigation trends.
  • Manage requests for medical records and communicate with physicians and facilities.
  • Analyze medical records and prepare summaries.
  • Perform electronic filing in federal and state courts.
  • Correspond with clients, opposing counsel, and court clerks.
  • Assist with all aspects of trial preparation.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to support firm operations.
