About The Position

Gonzalez & Torres Law is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to support their personal injury department. This role involves working directly with the lead attorney to manage active litigation cases, assist clients through complex legal processes, and ensure efficient case progression. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, deadline-driven, and capable of taking ownership of their responsibilities to deliver justice for clients.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years in personal injury litigation or defense work.
  • Hands-on experience supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation.
  • Ability to independently draft complaints, pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Familiarity with court filing procedures, both physical and electronic.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, capable of managing 60-70 litigation cases.
  • Confident working autonomously, taking ownership of tasks like coordinating service, managing deadlines, and preparing attorneys for mediation or depositions.
  • Empathetic communicator who can clearly explain legal processes, manage client expectations, and maintain regular updates.
  • Dependable team player who thrives in a trust-based environment with clear expectations.
  • Willingness to learn and grow into higher responsibility.
  • Commitment and reliability, with the maturity to see cases through from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritize an active caseload of approximately 60-70 personal injury cases from complaint filing through settlement or trial.
  • Conduct litigation intake with Spanish-speaking clients, explaining the litigation process, attorney fees, case expenses, and expected timelines.
  • Draft complaints and legal documents tailored to specific case types.
  • Coordinate timely e-filing and physical filing of all pleadings, discovery, and motions, ensuring accurate service of process.
  • Monitor and manage discovery timelines, ensuring deadlines for responses and opposing counsel are met.
  • Track discovery from initiation through completion, coordinating document production, issuing subpoenas, and reviewing responses.
  • Schedule depositions of defendants, experts, and treating physicians, handling logistics and preparing materials.
  • Prepare for mediation and trial by gathering case files, organizing exhibits, drafting witness summaries, and ensuring all attorney materials are ready.
  • Assist in preparing for settlement discussions or alternative dispute resolution.
  • Maintain accountability for tracking service of complaints, filing deadlines, and post-answer review.
  • Proactively ensure all necessary actions are completed on time, alerting the attorney to key issues and managing follow-ups.
  • Provide empathetic, non-legal support to clients throughout their case, helping them navigate the process and addressing concerns.
  • Track billable hours and case-related expenses for accurate client billing and firm reporting.
