About The Position

Akerman LLP is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our New York office. The successful candidate will have at least five years of litigation experience, preferably in a regional or national law firm, and will be organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced litigation practice. Requirements

Minimum of five years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in a regional or national law firm.
Strong working knowledge of filing requirements and procedures for New York State and federal courts.
Working knowledge of New York and federal rules of civil procedure.
Experience with discovery, document production, factual research, cite-checking, and trial preparation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Relativity, and litigation support technology.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines independently and collaboratively.
Flexible and responsive, with a willingness to work additional hours when necessary to meet court deadlines, trial schedules, and client needs.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to client service.
Technologically curious and comfortable learning and using evolving legal technology and AI tools.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

Support attorneys through all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, and trial.
Manage case files, deadlines, and large volumes of documents, data, and evidence.
Prepare and assist with pleadings, motions, discovery materials, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
Coordinate filings in New York State and federal courts.
Manage discovery and document production, including use of Relativity and other litigation technology.
Conduct factual research and fact-record cite-checking.
Prepare deposition summaries, exhibits, witness and exhibit lists, and trial materials.
Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other professionals to meet client and practice needs.
