The Law Firm for Truck Safety is a nationally recognized law firm dedicated exclusively to representing victims of catastrophic truck crashes. Our firm has the most Board-Certified Trucking Accident Law attorneys in the United States. Our attorneys are leaders in trucking litigation, and many hold Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs) and are engaged in making safety changes around the Country. We are seeking a highly experienced Litigation Attorney to join our growing practice, with a focus on complex, high-stakes trucking litigation and catastrophic injury cases. This role is designed for a seasoned litigator with strong trial experience who can work independently managing cases from intake through trial while contributing to firm strategy and long-term growth. Primary States of Practice will include Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and Utah. This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including the ability to work beyond standard business hours as needed to meet client demands, court deadlines, and trial requirements. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to client service, thrives in a high-performance litigation environment, and is passionate about representing plaintiffs in catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters. This individual may also play a key role in mentoring junior attorneys, contributing to thought leadership in the trucking litigation space, and supporting potential geographic expansion, including the opportunity to help establish a presence in Colorado or Utah.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice in Colorado and/or Wyoming (or ability to obtain admission promptly); additional licensure in Montana or Utah strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 -10+ years of civil litigation experience, with significant plaintiff-side personal injury and/or wrongful death experience. Trucking litigation experience from either the defense or plaintiff side is preferable.
  • Demonstrated trial experience
  • Proven ability to manage cases independently from intake through resolution or trial
  • Strong knowledge of trucking litigation or willingness to develop subject matter expertise quickly
  • Excellent legal writing, research, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills
  • Experience with complex discovery, depositions, motion practice, and case strategy development
  • Ability to mentor junior attorneys and contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Willingness to travel as needed to office locations (Wyoming,Colorado, Utah and Montana) for client meetings, litigation and trial along with travel around the Country as cases require.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience handling trucking or transportation-related litigation
  • Familiarity with federal and state trucking regulations (FMCSA)
  • Experience building or expanding a legal practice or office presence
  • Established industry involvement, including speaking engagements or publications
  • Admission in multiple jurisdictions, particularly Colorado, Wyoming and/or Utah
  • Ability and willingness to obtain NBTA Board Certification within 3 years of hire
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a CDL within 3 years of hire

Responsibilities

  • Supports lead first-chair trial attorney in all phases of litigation and serves as second-chair trial attorney in high-exposure litigation along with development into a first-chair trial attorney
  • Independently manage a full caseload of complex trucking and catastrophic injury cases from intake through trial
  • Develop and execute case strategy, including liability development, damages analysis, and trial preparation
  • Conduct and defend depositions, including experts, corporate representatives, and key witnesses
  • Draft and argue substantive motions, including dispositive motions
  • Ability to lead settlement negotiations with insurance carriers and defense counsel
  • Collaborate with experts in accident reconstruction, trucking safety, life care planning, and medical specialties
  • Analyze and apply federal and state trucking regulations (FMCSA) and safety standards
  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to associate attorneys and legal staff
  • Engage directly with clients, providing clear communication and high-level case guidance
  • Contribute to firm growth initiatives, including business development and market expansion
  • Participate in industry events, speaking engagements, and thought leadership opportunities
  • Maintain a trial-first mindset while evaluating resolution opportunities
