About The Position

This role involves defending insurance claims, requiring the attorney to manage cases from inception through trial. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement and a competitive salary range. The attorney will be responsible for all aspects of litigation, including research, drafting legal documents, taking depositions, and representing clients in court and arbitration.

Requirements

  • Experience in preparing motions, oppositions to motions, and reply briefs.
  • Experience in preparing for and taking depositions.
  • Experience in preparing discovery requests and responses.
  • Experience in reviewing and analyzing legal documents.
  • Experience in preparing settlement agreements.
  • Experience in preparing pretrial documents.
  • Experience in conducting voir dire, presenting opening and closing statements, and examining and cross-examining witnesses at trial.
  • Ability to develop strategies for higher-value cases and manage lower-value cases independently.
  • Ability to interact with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses and court personnel professionally.
  • Proficiency in researching case law and statutes.
  • Ability to supervise associates, paralegals and legal assistants.
  • Ability to enter billable time promptly and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare motions, oppositions to motions, and reply briefs, and attend hearings before judicial officers in state courts and arbitration forums.
  • Prepare for and take depositions.
  • Prepare discovery requests, discovery responses, and subpoenas.
  • Review and analyze documents produced by opposing counsel and documents provided by clients and third parties.
  • Prepare settlement agreements.
  • Prepare pretrial documents, motions and deposition summaries.
  • Conduct voir dire, present opening and closing statements, and examine and cross-examine witnesses at trial.
  • Work closely with the client to develop strategies for higher-value cases and running lower value cases independently.
  • Interact with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses and court personnel in a manner that reflects favorably on our clients and the firm.
  • Research case law and statutes.
  • Supervise associates, paralegals and legal assistants with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Enter billable time promptly and accurately.
