About The Position

Under direct supervision, Student Assistants perform duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized, in a variety of positions that typically require the use of manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skill. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. Specific job duties are defined by the appropriate campus department. Specifically, this student assistant will provide support for projects at the Hazel Miller Croy Reading Center, involving data collection and/or entry into project databases.

Requirements

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels.
  • Ability to read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to transcript data, survey data collection/entry and perform library searches.
  • Proficient in computer/typing/recording, oral and written English communication.
  • Function well in stressful, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a racially and ethnically diverse professional community.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate coursework in Literacy.
  • CITI training.
  • Knowledge of literacy and of qualitative/quantitative methods.

Responsibilities
