Commonpoint is seeking a Literacy Coordinator for its Adult Workforce Department. This department focuses on providing employment and training services to promote economic self-sufficiency. The Literacy Coordinator will manage, instruct, and provide operational support for the Adult Workforce Vocational Training and Educational Programs team. The goal is to develop programming that supports educational gains and cohort mobility, leading to ESOL, HSE, and other educational achievements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in adult literacy, differentiated and blended learning, test preparation, and managing educational administrative projects, including student records, certifications, and grant management. This role reports to the Education Manager. Responsibilities include managing part-time instructors, developing curriculum, teaching classes, ensuring compliance with DYCD guidelines, tracking student outcomes, developing assessments and reports, collaborating with support staff, referring students to HSE and ABE programs, and managing class staffing. The role also involves data entry for Salesforce and DYCD's PTS, developing class schedules, and representing the agency in meetings and with funders. The position is based in Elmhurst with occasional instruction in Forest Hills, Queens, and may require travel to other agency locations in Queens and The Bronx. Flexibility in schedule is required, including potential future Saturday instruction.
