About The Position

The Lis Systems Administrator is responsible for functioning in one or more areas of the clinical laboratory, including Blood bank, Chemistry, Flow Cytometry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular biology, and Virology. This role acts as a LIS help desk resource, taking corrective actions, monitoring integrated systems, and operating the master console. The administrator will also oversee tape operations, review backups, and troubleshoot file server hardware and operating system problems. Additionally, they will install hardware and operating systems, install and troubleshoot software applications, assist with software upgrades, document and respond to trouble calls, meet with vendors, and participate in hardware and software selection. The role may also involve leading and coordinating networking activities for projects and ensuring security procedures are enforced. The administrator must be able to perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Associates Degree in Computer and Information Science
  • 3 or more years Experience in Computer Science

  • Technical/Professional Training in Data Processing/Computer Science

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the ability to function in one or more areas of the clinical including: Blood bank, Chemistry, Flow Cytometry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular biology, Virology, Computer.
  • Acts as a LIS help desk resource.
  • Takes corrective actions in as many aspects as possible.
  • Monitor integrated systems for abnormal conditions and performs appropriate corrective measures.
  • Operates master console by responding accurately to console messages, documents all problems, and keeps management informed of problems that have a serious consequence to the system.
  • Oversees or mounts correct tape volumes and ensures correct tapes volumes are sent offsite.
  • Reviews backups and operates tape drives, printers and other equipment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot file server hardware and operating system problems.
  • Demonstrates the ability to install file server hardware and operating systems.
  • Demonstrates the ability to install and troubleshoot standard and customized software applications.
  • Assists in testing as software upgrades are implemented.
  • Demonstrates the ability to properly document and respond to trouble calls in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet with vendors and participate in hardware and software selection.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and coordinate the networking activities of a project.
  • Demonstrates the ability to ensure security procedures are enforced.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
