About The Position

The LIS Systems Administrator is responsible for functioning in one or more areas of the clinical laboratory, including Blood bank, Chemistry, Flow Cytometry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular biology, and Virology. This role acts as a LIS help desk resource, taking corrective actions and monitoring integrated systems for abnormal conditions. The administrator operates the master console, responds to system messages, documents problems, and keeps management informed. They also oversee tape operations, review backups, and operate tape drives and printers. The position requires troubleshooting and installing file server hardware and operating systems, as well as installing and troubleshooting standard and customized software applications. Assistance is provided during software upgrade testing. The role involves documenting and responding to trouble calls, meeting with vendors for hardware and software selection, and coordinating networking activities for projects. Ensuring security procedures are enforced is also a key responsibility. The individual must be able to perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Associates Degree in Computer and Information Science
  • 3 or more years Experience in Computer Science

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a LIS help desk resource.
  • Takes corrective actions in as many aspects as possible.
  • Monitor integrated systems for abnormal conditions and performs appropriate corrective measures.
  • Operates master console by responding accurately to console messages, documents all problems, and keeps management informed of problems that have a serious consequence to the system.
  • Oversees or mounts correct tape volumes and ensures correct tapes volumes are sent offsite.
  • Reviews backups and operates tape drives, printers and other equipment.
  • Troubleshoots file server hardware and operating system problems.
  • Installs file server hardware and operating systems.
  • Installs and troubleshoots standard and customized software applications.
  • Assists in testing as software upgrades are implemented.
  • Properly documents and responds to trouble calls in a timely manner.
  • Meets with vendors and participates in hardware and software selection.
  • Leads and coordinates the networking activities of a project.
  • Ensures security procedures are enforced.
  • Performs the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
