About The Position

The Laboratory Information System Analyst is responsible for the overall health through maintenance and change management, of the software operating and contributing to the Laboratory Information System infrastructure. This role involves instructing, orienting, and mentoring students, employees, residents, and physicians on information system applications. The analyst must be able to demonstrate participation and involvement in the implementation of system upgrades, enhancements, and new acquisitions of laboratory information systems, including design, installation, validation & regression testing, training, documentation, and migration. Maintaining industry knowledge for all regulations applicable to laboratory information systems and contributing to inspection readiness are key aspects of the role. The position also assists in managing billing, reconciling billing issues, report generation, and ensuring billing interface viability. Utilizing SQL tools for ad hoc reporting and database maintenance for laboratory information systems is also required. The analyst will manage LIS change requests, including application, billing, reference lab, instrument, and other interfaces, using the organizational tracking system. Effective project management to ensure accurate, collaborative, and timely execution of assigned projects is essential. Participation in LIS on-call rotation and off-hours support is also a requirement.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree OR High School Graduate
  • 5 or more years Relevant experience or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Beaker Certification - Epic Systems Corporation Certification or proficiency (with certification level score) in assigned Epic application or demonstrated learning of other assigned application.
  • The certification must be obtained within 180 days of hire and maintained according to Epic’s CEE program guidelines.
  • An understanding of clinical laboratory workflow and process
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft: Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree Information Systems or related computer science
  • 2 or more years
  • 2-4 years of experience working with Laboratory Information Systems
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP)

Responsibilities

  • Instructs, orients and mentors students, employees, residents and physicians for information system applications.
  • Demonstrates participation and involvement in the implementation of system upgrades, enhancements and new acquisitions of laboratory information systems.
  • Maintains industry knowledge for all regulations applicable to the laboratory information systems.
  • Contributes to inspection readiness and participates in the preparations leading up to an inspection.
  • Follows regulatory, accreditation, safety and hospital standards, policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the management of billing, the reconciliation of billing issues, report generation, and billing interface viability.
  • Utilizes SQL tools to develop and generate ad hoc reports for data collection, interfaces and other objectives to support day to day operations of the lab.
  • Demonstrates participation and involvement in the implementation of new and updated database maintenance for the laboratory information systems.
  • Manages LIS Change requests related to the laboratory information systems.
  • Demonstrates the utilization of the organizational tracking system when conducting these events.
  • Demonstrates the effective and efficient management of all projects to ensure projects are executed accurately, collaboratively and timely for all projects assigned.
  • Participates in LIS on-call rotation and off hours support.
  • Maintains the use of change management policies and procedures for the organization and department.
  • Performs the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
