We are looking to grow our database of linguists to work on projects for our clients within our Retail and MCM divisions. Our Retail division works with Luxury Brands, apparel, hair, makeup, and other beauty products. MCM stands for Multicultural Marketing. MCM services go beyond straight forward, word-for-word translations; they address the challenges of adapting marketing concepts and content that incorporate creative language and imagery in order to deliver the brand message. These two teams work hand in hand, and are looking for linguists to capture the intent of the source and convey the message in idiomatic and colloquial language. The main subject matter categories are: Luxury Brands/Apparel, Hair, Makeup, Beauty, Multicultural Marketing. The TransPerfect office based in Montreal is looking for English to French translators-revisers of various experience levels (intermediate or principal) in the banking and insurance fields. You will be responsible for translating and revising documents belonging to various clients. TransPerfect offers the possibility of working in a hybrid mode from the office located in downtown Montreal.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in target language Canadian French, as well as in English
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Satisfactory results on company tests
  • Minimum passing grade (subject to individual language) on appropriate foreign language tests, as applicable
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and cultural knowledge in source and target languages (English and Canadian French).
  • Pay close attention to language points, spelling, and grammar.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to stay focused on tasks.
  • Quickly acquire new skills and ability to work with various technologies and interfaces.
  • Be able to handle multiple projects and manage constantly evolving priorities with ease while ensuring accuracy and adherence to each deadline.
  • Maintain professionalism in all situations, especially under tight deadlines.
  • Adopt a positive attitude towards change, a customer-focused mindset, and a preventive approach to avoid and resolve problems.
  • Possess at least a bachelor's degree or a certificate in translation or equivalent.
  • Perfect command of Canadian French and fluent in English.
  • Have experience in translating and revising documents related to the banking and insurance fields.
  • Have excellent command of MS Office suite software and computer-assisted translation tools.
  • Possess the adequate number of years of experience depending on the position level: intermediate (2 to 4 years) or principal (5 years and more).

  • Experience with other document sharing platforms is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Translate and proofread various types of documents (based on subject matter expertise)
  • Ensure translated documents mirror the original source document
  • Efficiently maintain formal disciplined operational procedures across variety of client projects
  • Track project-specific non-conformances and resolutions
  • Personally perform project QA steps
  • Properly utilize all appropriate supplemental materials (refer to client PAQ, reference materials, glossaries, etc.) making sure they are consistent throughout the jobs
  • Be responsible for any errors/omissions associated with a project in which they are involved
  • Be comfortable with Copy-Adapt/Adaptive Editing/Transcreation jobs.
  • Translate and revise high-visibility content in the banking and insurance fields.
  • Provide translations adapted to the Canadian-French market, using idiomatic expressions, among other things.
  • Be a brand owner by becoming an extension of the client's brand within TransPerfect and maintaining brand consistency across all projects.
  • Use and update translation memories and glossaries.
  • Handle multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Keep project managers informed of the progress of each project and meet internal and client deadlines.
  • Perform administrative tasks in a timely manner to support your work and the company's key performance indicators.
  • Occasionally participate in training new team members and freelancers, and provide them with feedback, as needed.
  • Occasionally represent the Language Service in communications with a client to better understand their preferences, update their style guides, glossaries, instructions, and reference documents, and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Make recommendations to your supervisor on ways to improve any process as part of the Montreal office's commitment to continuous improvement.
