About The Position

Crosby Street Hotel, part of the award-winning Firmdale Hotels group, is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Engineer to support the day-to-day engineering operations of our luxury hotel. This role is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of safety, comfort, and functionality throughout guest rooms, public areas, restaurant spaces, and back-of-house facilities. The Maintenance Engineer will perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs across multiple trades, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and kitchen equipment, while delivering prompt and professional service.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of maintenance or engineering experience, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment
  • Working knowledge of HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance systems
  • Computer literate, with experience using Building Management Systems (BMS) preferred
  • Familiarity with HOTSOS or similar maintenance management systems preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and professional under pressure
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Physically capable of lifting, carrying, and handling equipment safely

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant trade certifications and/or specialized training preferred, including: Fire Safety Director FDNY Certificates of Fitness (Sprinkler & Standpipe, Back-Up Generator, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Engineer with the overall maintenance and engineering operations of the hotel, restaurant, and surrounding grounds
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, suites, meeting spaces, restaurant areas, and common areas
  • Conduct routine inspections and walk-throughs, updating logs and promptly reporting issues requiring immediate attention
  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance programs and checklists
  • Monitor, maintain, and service engineering systems and equipment, including: HVAC systems (boilers, chillers, air handling units, water pumps, exhaust fans)
  • Replacement of filters, belts, bearings, fans, insulation, and drain pans
  • Troubleshoot and repair door locks, lighting systems, televisions, phones, and related guestroom equipment
  • Perform basic repairs related to plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and kitchen equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times
  • Follow all safety protocols and hotel standards
