The Line Driver is responsible for storing and retrieving goods in the storage area of the workplace. This role involves rotating stock to ensure oldest materials are used first, noting and reporting any damaged cartons, crates, or containers, and recording items added or removed from inventory. The operator will use an industrial forklift and a handheld scan gun/RFGEN for lot tracking to maintain accurate inventory. They will work from written or verbal instructions, operating a forklift to pick up, move, load, and unload product on or from trailers while meeting department, facility, company, and regulatory guidelines. The position also includes performing minor service of equipment, completing daily safety inspections, identifying and reporting problems to a supervisor, changing fuel bottles, refueling forklifts, and troubleshooting repairs. Additionally, the Line Driver will maintain a clean and orderly work area, dock, and equipment, adhere to storage design principles, and recommend improvements. They will create product labels for inventory purposes, read and understand lot numbers, expiration dates, ingredient lists, and production schedules, and complete various reports daily, entering required information into a computer program efficiently and timely. The operator will use basic tools such as wrenches, tape measures, scales, air and water hoses, and consolidate partial pallets as directed. A key aspect of this role is the ability to maneuver a forklift in tight spaces while maintaining a safe work zone. The Line Driver participates as a member of the Team, contributing to the development and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies, and coordinating work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. They are expected to be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems and understand their responsibility to maintain this familiarity and their role in supporting these systems, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas.
