About The Position

As a Line Cook at Murray’s Cheese, you will prepare and cook the company’s cheese-centric menu while working alongside a skilled kitchen team. You will ensure dishes meet recipe and quality standards and maintain food safety and cleanliness throughout your station. Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen, or recent culinary school graduate.
Strong knife skills and proficiency in food preparation.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
Passion for food, special interest in cheese, and desire to learn and grow as a professional cook.
Flexible availability for weekends, holidays, opening, closing, and mid-day shifts.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfort with bending, twisting, reaching, and carrying.
Ability to operate knives, scales, slicers, and other food-handling equipment safely and efficiently.

Nice To Haves

NYC Food Handler’s Certification or ServSafe certification (preferred, not required).

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook menu items to order according to recipes and quality standards.
Plate dishes with appropriate garnishes and presentation.
Operate kitchen equipment and ensure it is properly maintained.
Follow NYC Department of Health food safety policies and maintain a clean work area.
Store and handle food properly to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
Monitor inventory levels and use ingredients efficiently.
Work with kitchen staff to support smooth kitchen operations.
Communicate with the team to coordinate orders, maintain service flow, and troubleshoot challenges.
Perform other duties as required to support the team and store operations.
Keep stations organized, stocked, and ready for service.
Manage time effectively to complete duties within established time frames.
