About The Position

The Line Cook prepares hot and cold food items according to standard operating procedures, completes prep work, and delivers finished food products. The role supports kitchen operations and provides direction to kitchen staff, including assisting the Sous Chef with monitoring activities and expediting orders to ensure quality, taste, presentation, and timely service. The Line Cook may take on additional responsibilities in the Sous Chef’s absence. The position is part-time and pays $18.00 per hour. It is based at The Rose Gaming Resort in Dumfries, Virginia.

Requirements

Two years of experience in line cooking.
Experience grilling, broiling, sautéing, and steaming.
Ability to work quickly on as many as 30 orders at a time and coordinate cooking times with coworkers.
Obtain and retain required license(s).

Responsibilities

Prepare hot and cold food items according to standard operating procedures, including prep work and delivery of finished food products.
Assist with stocking and setting up kitchen stations.
Prepare ingredients by cleaning and cutting them, and cook main dishes, desserts, appetizers, and snacks.
Plate prepared foods according to senior chefs’ guidance.
Coordinate with servers to ensure orders are completed as requested and on time.
Wash and clean the kitchen and cooking utensils, and store equipment at the end of shifts.
Ensure kitchen procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.
Assist the Sous Chef in monitoring kitchen activities and expediting orders; provide direction to kitchen staff when taking on responsibilities in the Sous Chef’s absence.
Attend required company training sessions and obtain and retain required licenses.
Perform duties in compliance with local laws and regulations and maintain knowledge of relevant ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures.
Take steps to prevent minors from gambling or loitering in gambling areas, drinking alcoholic beverages, or purchasing tobacco.
Maintain knowledge of the Property’s programs addressing problem gaming and report known acts of wrongdoing.
Circulate through assigned areas, including the smoking area, while observing players and the functioning of machines.
