Cook at Drift Bar & Salon with Freehand Hospitality. Celebrating our natural abundance, Drift’s culinary vision is to showcase the East Coast’s most beloved ingredients stemming from a vibrant community of artisans, producers, farmers and fishers. Chef Anthony Walsh has crafted menus featuring eclectic interpretations of familiar Maritime fare. Whether you’re sampling an incredible variety of raw bar delicacies or tucking into a piping hot Seafood Hodge Podge, Drift’s dishes aim to deliver equal parts comfort and surprise. We are looking for a Cook at Drift who will work closely and collaborate with our amazing team and will be willing to push boundaries to keep Drift’s dining experience fresh and exciting.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years cooking experience in a fast-paced, high performing restaurant
  • Experience with high-end, Instagram able plating and be highly adaptable
  • Strength in modern cooking techniques
  • Experience with elevated and unique ingredients
  • Experience with food ordering and inventories
  • Professional cooking and knife handling skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Food safe certification

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary diploma/degree is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Perform delegated tasks from Sous Chef, Chef and/or General Manager
  • Day to day food preparation of the restaurant according to standards
  • Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation specification as set by the restaurant
  • Maintain a prep list of station duties
  • Follow the FIFO method to maximize freshness
  • Assist in food inventory and control
  • Assist in properly receiving and storing delivered items
  • Clean food prep areas, equipment, utensils and strictly adhere to sanitation, food safety, and hygiene guidelines
  • Strictly adhere to WHMIS and MSDS guidelines
  • Setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies before and during service
  • Such other related duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time
