About The Position

Arlo Hotels is seeking a dynamic Line Cook for its rooftop location. The ideal candidate is passionate about people, driven by purpose, and clever in their approach. Line cooks are responsible for preparing all menu items during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and event services, with a daily focus on learning and perfecting techniques, speed, and consistency. They are vital to every outlet.

Requirements

  • 2 years + of line cook experience in NYC at a comparable restaurant or hotel
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to stay on your feet for 8 hours plus
  • Good knife skills
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment such as vita prep, robo coup, ovens and burners
  • Strong cooking skills
  • Knowledge of and adherence to sanitary food handling procedures
  • Ability to remain calm and work well under pressure
  • Executive Chef taste and sign off on every item prepped before being put away
  • Possession of necessary tools for the station and proper storage of tools when not in use
  • Use of sharp cutlery at all times

Responsibilities

  • Preparing assigned food items
  • Following recipes and portion control guidelines
  • Setting up stations with appropriate par levels for the shift and restocking items
  • Ensuring the freshness and correctness of mise en place on their station
  • Preparing any ingredient or specific recipe as directed by the Sous Chefs
  • Keeping work area clean, sanitized, and organized (including prep table, sinks, walk-ins, lowboys, floor, dry storage, ovens, and stovetops)
  • Understanding how to use a variety of food service equipment safely
  • Understanding and practicing proper food cooling and storing procedures
  • Preparing daily prep lists for their station and the prep team
  • Treating guests with courtesy and respect
  • Delivering outstanding service and creating memorable experiences
  • Coordinating and multi-tasking job duties in an active environment
