Limited Term Faculty Member - Academic Associate - Networking and IT Security
About The Position
Ontario Tech University is seeking a qualified individual for a one-year, limited-term Academic Associate position within the Faculty of Business & Information Technology. This role will involve teaching courses in the undergraduate Bachelor of IT, Networking & IT Security program, and the graduate Master of IT Security (MITS) program. Potential courses include Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Cryptography & Network Security, and Trust Systems. The university emphasizes a technology-enhanced learning environment, encouraging the integration of technology and AI into teaching. The role includes teaching, service, and other duties, with a workload distribution of 70% teaching, 20% service, and 10% other.
Requirements
- Graduate degree, preferably a PhD or terminal degree, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Network Security, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrable skills in the integration of technology and AI into teaching.
Nice To Haves
- Specialist qualifications in the areas of networking and IT security, computer architecture, operating systems, cryptography, network security, trust systems, secure systems design, cybersecurity, and applied information security.
- Relevant industry experience.
- University-level teaching experience in hybrid or online delivery.
- Professional certification such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate/Professional (CCNA/CCNP), Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or related cybersecurity/networking certifications.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops
- Preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations
- Responding to student inquiries
- Maintaining regular office hours
- Invigilating tests and examinations
- Providing service to the university such as through committees
- Supervising of teaching assistant(s)
- Mentorship of students in case competitions
