Limited Term Faculty Member - Academic Associate - Economics
About The Position
Ontario Tech University is seeking a qualified individual for a one-year, limited-term Academic Associate position within the Faculty of Business & Information Technology. This role will focus on teaching courses in the Bachelor of Commerce program, with specific emphasis on supporting the Economics major. Potential courses include Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Environmental Economics, and Foundations of Business. Requirements
- A graduate degree, preferably a PhD or terminal degree, in Economics, Business Economics, Applied Economics, Environmental Economics, Public Policy, Finance, Management Science, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Specialist qualifications in the areas of microeconomics, macroeconomics, applied economics, environmental economics, economic policy, business economics, and the application of economic analysis to business decision-making.
- A proven commitment to providing innovative and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Evidence of an ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships with a range of faculty, staff, and students.
- Demonstrable skills in the integration of technology and AI into teaching.

Responsibilities
- Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and workshops.
- Preparing and marking assignments, tests, and examinations.
- Responding to student inquiries.
- Maintaining regular office hours.
- Invigilating tests and examinations.
- Providing service to the university, such as through committees.
- Supervising teaching assistant(s) or mentoring students in case competitions.
- Integrating technology and AI into teaching and pedagogy.
- Incorporating discussions of ethical considerations, social responsibility, and sustainability into course curriculum.
- Conducting research that addresses pressing societal challenges or promotes sustainable business practices.
- Engaging with interdisciplinary initiatives that seek to harness the power of technology for positive social change.
- Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the finance field.
- Collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to advance shared goals.
