About The Position

Ontario Tech University is seeking a qualified individual for a one-year, limited-term Academic Associate position within the Faculty of Business & Information Technology. Requirements

  • A graduate degree, preferably a PhD or terminal degree, in Economics, Business Economics, Applied Economics, Environmental Economics, Public Policy, Finance, Management Science, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Specialist qualifications in the areas of microeconomics, macroeconomics, applied economics, environmental economics, economic policy, business economics, and the application of economic analysis to business decision-making.
  • A proven commitment to providing innovative and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Evidence of an ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships with a range of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrable skills in the integration of technology and AI into teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and workshops.
  • Preparing and marking assignments, tests, and examinations.
  • Responding to student inquiries.
  • Maintaining regular office hours.
  • Invigilating tests and examinations.
  • Providing service to the university, such as through committees.
  • Supervising teaching assistant(s) or mentoring students in case competitions.
  • Integrating technology and AI into teaching and pedagogy.
  • Incorporating discussions of ethical considerations, social responsibility, and sustainability into course curriculum.
  • Conducting research that addresses pressing societal challenges or promotes sustainable business practices.
  • Engaging with interdisciplinary initiatives that seek to harness the power of technology for positive social change.
  • Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the finance field.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to advance shared goals.
