About The Position

The Lift Operations Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of on mountain lifts for skiing guests and employees. The Lift Operations Supervisor oversees all aspects of day-to-day operations on mountain, in coordination with department heads and supervisors, assessed on a daily basis. This position reports to the Lift Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid, current, unrestricted driver’s license required
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate and follow oral or written directions in English is required
  • Proficient knowledge in lift attendant responsibilities
  • Proficient experience in customer service
  • Knowledge of the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board (CPTSB) & American National Standards Institute (ANSI) codes pertaining to ski lifts
  • Lift Maintenance & Operations – In-depth understanding of ski lift mechanics, daily inspections, and emergency procedures.
  • Safety Regulations & Compliance – Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and state ski lift safety regulations to ensure a secure operating environment.
  • Awareness of resort policies, guest interaction best practices, and how lift operations impact overall mountain safety
  • Provides leadership, training, motivation and may assist with coaching/documentation and performance reviews for staff
  • Ability to understand and give directions and communicate effectively in English
  • Demonstrates high-level of proficiency in all aspects of lift operations
  • Capable of making sound judgments in fast-paced or emergency situations
  • Able to work long hours in varying mountain weather conditions, including extreme cold and high altitudes
  • Ensures all safety checks, logs, and operational procedures are meticulously followed to maintain compliance and guest safety

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day to day operations of on mountain lifts in coordination with department heads, assessed on a daily basis with emphasis on teamwork, coordination with other departments, proper documentation, and guest relations skills
  • Responsible for hourly Lift staff: monitor performance, provide timely feedback, assist with various tasks including hiring, scheduling, timekeeping, discipline and documentation and employee reviews
  • Performs the duties of hourly lift staff when necessary, fill-in manager duties as required
  • Monitors lifts and personnel for Tramway compliance including all necessary signage and licensing, evacuation procedures, opening, etc.
  • Updates lift manuals as required in addition to log books and all related documents
  • Conducts and/or monitors training sessions and completes all training documentation required by Aspen Skiing Company and Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board Regulations
  • Thoroughly and accurately completes administrative tasks as required
  • Flexible with schedule to accommodate daily operations and special events
  • Responsible for compliance with mountain safety practices
  • Other duties as assigned
