Lifeguard | Temporary Part Time
About The Position
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of guests at the pool. The role requires maintaining diligent, constant surveillance of families and children, enforcing pool rules with an appropriate balance of firmness and politeness, and being ready to perform life-saving functions. Lifeguards may also perform Pool Attendant duties as assigned. The position is with Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift.
- Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work weekends and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Prior lifeguarding experience at a pool in a resort, country club, or waterpark facility is highly preferred.
- One year of previous lifeguard experience is preferred.
- Lifeguard certification is preferred; training and certification will be provided as needed.
Responsibilities
- Report for scheduled shifts on time and in the assigned uniform.
- Provide guests with warm welcomes, anticipatory service, and fond farewells.
- Monitor the pool deck for safety, cleanliness, and guest needs.
- Maintain constant surveillance of patrons and act immediately and appropriately to protect their safety in an emergency.
- Provide emergency care and treatment as required until emergency medical services arrive.
- Perform maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Handle or refer facility problems and situations to the immediate supervisor or manager.
- Adhere to and enforce all pool rules and policies.
- Maintain and stock guard medic bags.
- React calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Perform Pool Attendant functions and responsibilities as assigned.
