About The Position

The Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the swimming pool in the Recreation Department. The role also helps maintain a clean, organized pool area, enforces policies and procedures, and accommodates guests’ needs and requests to support a positive guest experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, and at least two years of similar experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current CPR, First Aid, AED, and Lifeguard certifications.
Ability to swim and pull or drag individuals of all sizes through the water.
Ability to perform job functions in all weather conditions.
Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with pool guests.

Responsibilities

Enforce policies, rules, and regulations governing guests’ conduct in the pool area.
Respond quickly and effectively to distress or emergency situations.
Carry out emergency action procedures, including basic first aid, CPR, and other lifesaving techniques as necessary.
Prevent accidents by enforcing pool policies, rules, and regulations.
Report potential physical hazards and unsafe conditions to management.
Greet guests entering and leaving the pool area.
Conduct regular walkthroughs to ensure the pool area is clean and organized.
Set up and break down the pool deck for events or during a state of emergency.
Inspect the pool and beach area and notify management of issues requiring correction.
Promote positive public and employee relations.
Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within the area of responsibility.
Perform other related and compatible duties as assigned.
