About The Position

The Early Morning Lifeguard opens and monitors the pool, helping create a safe, welcoming environment for YMCA members and participants. The YMCA provides paid lifeguard certification training for suitable candidates without prior certification. Employment is contingent on successfully completing the Ellis Lifeguard Certification course. The role is extended upon successful completion of the course. The position requires weekday opening availability, with shifts between 4:45 AM and 8:00 AM or between 4:45 AM and 11:00 AM. Weekend availability is also required. The job is located at 25 Elm Street, North Easton, Massachusetts.

Requirements

Minimum age of 16.
Successful completion of the Ellis Lifeguard Certification course; current Ellis Lifeguard certification is required.
Current CPR, First Aid, AED, and O2 certifications.
Ability to perform all physical tasks of a lifeguard, including lifting an adult from the pool onto the pool deck.
Weekday availability for opening shifts between 4:45 AM and 8:00 AM or between 4:45 AM and 11:00 AM.
Weekend availability.

Responsibilities

Open the pool on time and help create a positive, welcoming environment.
Greet members and maintain a friendly, respectful atmosphere.
Monitor swimmers, ensure their safety, and enforce pool rules.
Support lap swim operations, including organizing lanes as needed.
Clearly communicate with participants about classes and pool procedures.
Respond quickly and professionally to incidents or emergencies.
Assist with aquatic programs and events.
Promote YMCA programs and connect members with opportunities.
Attend staff meetings and ongoing training.
Secure the pool area at the end of the shift unless properly relieved.
Complete program-specific and employee orientation training by the required timeline.
Maintain test-ready standards.
