About The Position

The YMCA is hiring an early-morning lifeguard to open the pool and help provide a safe, welcoming environment for members and participants. The position is located at 25 Elm Street, North Easton, Massachusetts, and requires weekday opening availability for shifts between 4:45 AM and 8:00 AM or between 4:45 AM and 11:00 AM. Weekend availability is also required. Paid lifeguard certification training is provided for candidates who are not already certified. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the Ellis Lifeguard Certification course. The position is extended upon successful completion of the course. The lifeguard must complete program-specific and employee orientation training within the required timeline.

Requirements

Minimum age of 16.
Current Ellis Lifeguard certification, or successful completion of the Ellis Lifeguard Certification course; employment is contingent upon course completion.
Current CPR, First Aid, AED, and O2 certifications.
Ability to perform all physical tasks of a lifeguard, including lifting an adult from the pool onto the pool deck.
Weekday opening availability for shifts between 4:45 AM and 8:00 AM or between 4:45 AM and 11:00 AM.
Weekend availability.

Responsibilities

Open the pool on time and establish a positive, welcoming environment.
Greet members and foster a friendly, respectful atmosphere.
Monitor swimmers, ensure their safety, and enforce pool rules.
Support lap swim operations, including organizing lanes as needed.
Communicate with participants about classes and pool procedures.
Respond quickly and professionally to incidents or emergencies.
Assist with aquatic programs and events.
Promote YMCA programs and connect members with opportunities.
Attend staff meetings and ongoing trainings.
Secure the pool area at the end of the shift unless properly relieved.
Maintain “Test Ready” standards.
Complete program-specific and employee orientation training within the required timeline.
