About The Position
The Greater Burlington YMCA is seeking Lifeguards to provide a safe and welcoming aquatic environment for members. The role focuses on preventing accidents, ensuring pool safety, and responding to emergencies on the pool deck. Lifeguards also help maintain a welcoming environment and stay prepared through training and certification maintenance. The position is located at 298 College St, Burlington, VT 05401. The organization is looking for candidates available Tuesday and Thursday mornings and/or afternoons.
Requirements
- Must be at least 15 years old, subject to state and local restrictions.
- Current Lifeguard Certification.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to stay alert, respond quickly, and perform water rescues.
- Availability on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and/or afternoons.
- Ability to perform all skills required of a lifeguard.
- Ability to stand, walk, swim, and perform rescues as needed.
- Ability to remain alert and attentive at all times.
- Ability to hear, see, and communicate clearly in a pool environment.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Monitor pool areas to ensure a safe swimming environment.
- Enforce safety policies and respond swiftly to emergencies.
- Perform rescues, first aid, and CPR as needed.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks.
- Engage with members and provide a welcoming, helpful presence.
- Attend trainings and maintain certification to stay rescue ready.
