About The Position

The Ahern Hotel & Convention Center is seeking a Lifeguard. The Lifeguard opens and closes the pool, monitors activities in the pool area, identifies safety issues, and performs water rescues and first aid. The role also includes greeting guests and providing customer service, maintaining pool-area cleanliness, and periodically checking water quality.

The position requires continuous sitting, standing, and walking, as well as frequent pushing, pulling, bending, and stooping. The Lifeguard must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds without assistance, enter the pool to rescue distressed swimmers, remove them from the pool, and provide immediate medical assistance. The role involves constant face-to-face customer interactions and exposure to weather and temperature extremes. Employees must comply with brand and hygiene policies.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• At least six months of lifeguard experience.
• Current lifesaving, CPR, and first aid certifications.
• Swimming proficiency and comfort in all types of water conditions.
• Knowledge of safety policies and protocols.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to enter the pool, rescue distressed swimmers, remove them from the pool, and provide immediate medical assistance.
• Ability to multi-task and remain positive in busy working conditions.
• Ability to maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and a professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests arriving in the pool area and provide the highest level of customer service.
• Ensure the safety of swimmers and monitor activities in the pool area.
• Identify safety issues throughout the shift.
• Perform water rescues and provide CPR, artificial respiration, and first aid as necessary.
• Open and close the pool each day according to scheduled hours.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pool area.
• Periodically check water quality.
