About The Position

JARC is seeking a compassionate and energetic Life Skills Instructor to work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in its ADAPT Day Program. The instructor helps participants build independence, workplace and social skills, and confidence through classroom and community-based activities. The role is suited to candidates with experience in education, human services, recreation, coaching, childcare, senior services, healthcare support, direct support work, or related fields.

Requirements

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Valid Florida Driver's License and ability to drive a passenger van.
• Ability to successfully complete required background screening and drug testing.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree or relevant experience preferred.
• Background in education, human services, psychology, recreation, coaching, direct support, childcare, senior services, or a related field.
• Related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Lead classroom activities focused on life skills and vocational development.
• Teach practical job and daily living skills, including computer skills, cooking, mailroom tasks, and environmental services.
• Support participants in developing workplace habits and professional behaviors.
• Encourage independence, self-confidence, and community engagement.
• Monitor participant progress and maintain required documentation.
• Work collaboratively with staff, participants, and families.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
