About The Position

People Creating Success is hiring a Day Program Instructor to support adults with developmental disabilities in Newbury Park, California. The role centers on building genuine relationships, encouraging healthy habits, and helping participants pursue individualized academic, social, health, and wellness goals. Instructors lead and support wellness activities, take part in community outings, provide personal care when needed, and document participant progress. The schedule is weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The posting offers full- and part-time work at $20.60 per hour.

Requirements

• A compassionate, person-centered mindset.
• Ability to encourage, guide, and support participants respectfully.
• Valid driver's license.
• CPR/First Aid certification; training will be provided if the candidate is not certified or needs recertification.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support participants in health and wellness activities, including exercise classes, yoga sessions, nutrition-focused cooking classes, and health education.
• Encourage healthy eating habits.
• Participate in community outings using company vans or public transportation.
• Collaborate with participants on personalized curricula tailored to their goals, including academics and socialization.
• Assist with personal care, including changing and toileting.
• Maintain records of progress toward care plans.
• Support individuals experiencing heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, or sensory overload using proactive redirection and calming techniques.
• Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed shift logs and progress notes.
