About The Position

People Creating Success is hiring a Day Program Instructor in Newbury Park, California, to support adults with developmental disabilities. The role focuses on fostering health, wellness, community integration, and progress toward participants’ individual goals through person-centered guidance and activities. The position offers full- and part-time schedules on weekdays, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., at $20.60 per hour. Mileage reimbursement, a $10 monthly cell phone stipend, and a $500 sign-on bonus are offered. Health care benefits and paid time off are available if an employee transitions to full-time employment.

Requirements

Compassion and a person-centered mindset.
Ability to encourage, guide, and support participants respectfully.
Valid driver’s license.
CPR/First Aid certification; training will be provided if the candidate is not certified or needs recertification.

Responsibilities

Lead and support participants in exercise classes, yoga sessions, cooking classes focused on nutrition, and other health and wellness activities.
Provide health education and encourage healthy eating habits.
Participate in community outings using company vans or public transportation.
Collaborate with participants to create personalized curricula aligned with their goals, including academics and socialization.
Assist with personal care, including changing and toileting.
Record progress on participants’ care plans.
Support individuals experiencing heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, or sensory overload through proactive redirection and calming techniques.
Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.
Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed shift logs and progress notes.
